Gone From the App Store

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

“I swear it’s there,” I explained. “I’m looking on my phone and on the computer’s web browser. I see the app. Click the Install button.”

My insistence was pointless. No matter how I tried, my friend just couldn’t see the app. It was frustrating.

Hyphenation, the Forlorn Feature

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

Ages ago, hyphenation was a common and useful feature in a word processor. It was part of the paragraph feature that adjusted long words, splitting them to make a line of text look better. Microsoft Word still offers this feature, although it’s disabled and rarely used.

Windows Logo

I finally got off my butt and installed the Windows 10 beta. And it’s not too soon, either, because next week most Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs will be provided with a free update. So again I find myself on the leading edge.

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

One of the most common questions I get regarding Microsoft Word is how to remove a “line” from text. The problem ranks high because not everything you call a “line” is what Word calls a “line.”

Image Captions in Word

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

Home Screen Icon Density

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

I bought the Galaxy Note “phablet” phone when it first came out. The sucker was huge! The display was big and easy to see. Alas, the icon spread (rows and columns) on the Home screen was the same ratio as for other Android phones, a paltry four icons wide by five tall. That was disappointing.
