The fees weighed heavy on my wallet. I was paying close to $200 for cable. That included my Internet, for which I was paying a speed premium. The bulk of the bill, however, went to TV — stuff that I didn’t watch.

December 19, 2014The Instagram Rapture
In a deft move that had delightfully unintended consequences, Instagram decided to purge all the spam, all the fake accounts, all the bots, and all the nonsense from its site. It’s difficult for me to feel sorry for Big Red, but like the dark side of the force, I let the hatred flow through me. I know that I overpay for my Verizon account. A lot! It’s ridiculous. So much so, and so financially painful for many others, that lots of subscribers have made “the switch” to another carrier. That exodus is now affecting the company’s bottom line. Picture Layout Options in WordUnless you tell it otherwise, Microsoft Word believes any picture in your document to be one, large, single character. It jiggles and jostles around the text as you edit and add. That may be exactly what you want, or it may drive you nuts. Not to worry: You can fix the picture by changing its layout.
