Accelerator Keys

Some people call them keyboard commands. I’m fond of the term keyboard shortcuts. Perhaps the most bizarre term (meaning it probably came from Microsoft itself), is the term accelerator keys. No matter what you call them, using them will make working on the PC go faster.

Word Has Its Limits

Microsoft Word is a heck of a word processor. It does a lot: text, graphics, images, table of contents, references — all the features they could cram into the thing. Most people never use that stuff. And the people who do use it, shouldn’t.

An En and an Em

A hyphen is a minus sign is a dash, but that’s not entirely true. There are different types of dashes available for your writing pleasure. Before the media releases a panicked news flash, know which is which and how to use them in Microsoft Word.

Finding Template Files in Word

One of the major frustrations in Word is knowing how to edit a template file. Once created, you can use the template over and over. But to edit the template file, you have to follow some rather stupid and outrageous steps.
