My Own Illustrator

I showed a picture my generic Android phone to a colleague. He remarked how nice it looked and asked where I got it. “I made it,” I replied. He was impressed. That got me thinking about how I do graphics and illustrations for my books.

Screencasting Wars

It’s been a few years since we cut the cable. Now I have several choices for my viewing pleasure. I have my computer, my tablet, and my phone. I have a Nexus Player box on the Big TV. I can also screencast from my Android devices as well as my PCs. Because our TVs have Chromecast dongles attached, I can cast to any screen that’s active — but so can any other user on the network.

Make the Switch to IMAP

A few weeks back, I wrote about coordinating email on Android devices. The specific issue is with POP3 email accounts, the kind offered by traditional ISPs. Based on some feedback and research, I have changed my opinion: To put it bluntly, ditch the POP3 account.

I’m Trying to Learn Python

I’m a C language fanatic. It’s my language of choice, primarily because I have books and online courses about teaching C, as well as the Unofficial C For Dummies companion website. It’s good to keep up my knowledge, but like many programmers, I yearn to know another tongue.

Android POP3 Email Coordination

A POP3 email server is the kind used by most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) for email delivery. For sending mail, the SMTP protocol is used. This is why both server types must be configured on an Android mobile gizmo when you add in your ISP (or similar) email account. Still, email coordination involves only delivery, which is where POP3 presents various issues.
