Avoiding Writer’s Block

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

In my process of furiously writing text, the goal is to finish the document without suffering the pains of something called “writer’s block.” I don’t suffer from writer’s block. That doesn’t mean I don’t get it from time to time, I just know how to best deal with it.

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

Not only should you know how to start a well-written document (covered Wednesday), it also helps to know how to wrap one up. And I’m referring to more effort than just typing LOL or adding a smiley.

Android Malware Update

Filed under: News — admin @ 7:48 pm

A frequent question I’m asked is, “What of Android malware?” Well, actually, the real question is more like, “Can I get a virus on my Android phone/tablet?” The answer is always “Yes,” but the rates of infection show that your risk is really quite low.

wambooli the original

The web is just barely in its mid-20s, yet so much has changed. Back in 1997, Wambooli’s Home page looked as you see above. Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

The Google Play Store has come a long way from the old Android Market. The modern version of the Android app store — Oops! I can’t call it that. Thanks, Apple! &mdash has lots of good features and provides excellent information for everything it offers. The key is understanding how that stuff is presented.

Vertically Aligning a Page

Aligning a paragraph of text left-to-right is cinchy in Word. The Center command (shortcut Ctrl+E) shoves an equal amount of space to the left and right of a paragraph or a single line of text. If you want that paragraph to be aligned equal distance from the top and bottom of the page, then more work is required.

The Worst Program Name Ever

Filed under: Main — admin @ 12:01 am

Who thinks about program names? No one. Thanks to the proliferation of graphical operating system, you’re no longer required to type a program’s name to run it. No, you can click on an icon and not really care about the name floating below.

Windows 10 Ripped to Shreds

Filed under: News — admin @ 8:37 am

I have a few reasons to get the Windows 10 beta, most of which are that I am contracted to write a few Windows 10-related books. Still, I’ve not yet downloaded the beta or installed it on any device. No, I’m not being lazy. I’m just scared to death.
