Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

Late last year, I was hired to do some research on Microsoft Word. Not the current version, but Word 2003. It was the last major revision of Word before the 2007 update, which brought the Ribbon interface to Office and lots of angst to various users.

Buh-Bye, Yahoo

Filed under: Main — admin @ 12:01 am

Of all the early search engines — and I’m referring to the mid-1990s, before Google and Facebook — Yahoo survived. It beat out Lycos and Webcrawler, and a host of other early Web search engines.

A Nifty Android Onscreen Keyboard Trick

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

Oh, I could ramble on about Android “O,” so I will: Apparently it might be dubbed Oatmeal Cookie and not Oreo, as everyone is expecting. That’s a minor thing, however, not worthy of an entire blog post.

An Attack on GoDaddy’s Web Servers

Filed under: Main — admin @ 12:01 am

Yeah, this revelation may not launch your rocket, but it makes me all gooey.

Troubleshooting book cover

My Troubleshooting & Maintaining Your PC All-in-one Desktop Reference For Dummies is not only my longest titled title, and one of the most popular, but it was getting old. I’ve recently updated the book to cover Windows 10, and it is now available in those few bookstores that still exist.

I Don’t Have Time For Themes

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

Word 2007 introduced the concept of the theme in Word. I ignore it. I mean: I see the point. Design experts have crafted a set of fonts, styles, and colors and you can quickly apply them to any document. Neat-o. But Word has another set of themes, which I also ignore.
