I call them chatbots, but apparently the proper term is chatterbot. You may have seen this type of software on a web site, purporting to be “Jenny, your helpful assistant.” It’s a trick: That’s not a human, but rather carefully crafted AI software. Is this a concern?

O, I love customizing things. I enjoy that technology permits the user to change some items, such as the background on a phone or computer, or to change sound. Way back when, these capabilities were explored by lots of people. Today, seriously, does anyone bother changing the default sounds in Windows?

No, this isn’t another anti-Internet rant, but it could be! All too often, websites are touted as “news sources.” Their links are shared. Their articles read by people who don’t actually read them, but instead my cite the article’s title to justify some personal or political point. But the sites are a joke — on purpose!

It’s annoying. You go to browse the web or use the Google app on your Android, and you see a host of suggested sites, places you may not particularly want to go. A lot of it could be advertising, especially if you do lots of online shopping or browsing. Want to get rid of those suggestions? You can, but you need to know where to look.

Anyone have an Apple Watch?
I didn’t think so. The product isn’t doing as well as the Big A intended. It’s sexy, yes, but mostly impractical. The public figured that one out real quick. And now, almost one year after its introduction, few are getting excited about the Apple Watch II.
