Is IEEE 1394 dead?

About the same time, several years back, two competing standards were created for attaching external gizmos to computers. They were USB and IEEE 1394. One of them is about to die.

A common thing people do with a word processor, especially in business, is to create a form. One of the most annoying things in Word is the way that it handles tabs. Combine the two, and you have just oodles of fun!

Sending Elephants

It seems silly, but most e-mail accounts have an upper limit on the size of a file you can send. For some accounts, the size is a puny 5MB.

The Lure of the Soft Return

Word 7 changed a lot of word processing things. One of the most odd (some would say annoying) is its standard paragraph format which seems to always add a puff of space between the lines of each paragraph you type. When you’re trying to type an address, that extra space can be a real pain.

Show Them Extensions!

Unless you tell it otherwise, Windows hides the important part of a filename, the extension. I guess Microsoft does that so as not to confuse to bewilder beginners, though in my opinion it merely reinforces the fault in default.
