After not-really-that-much speculation, the official codename for Android 6.0, version M, has been announced: It’s Android Marshmallow, which was pretty much everyone’s favorite guess.
From memory, here are the Android release names with which I’m familiar:
Donut
Eclair
Froyo
Gingerbread
Honeycomb
Ice Cream Sandwich
Jelly bean
Kitkat
Lollipop
Marshmallow
Don’t expect to see Android Marshmallow anytime soon. The developer tools have been released, but no phone will ship with Android M for some time. After all, the current version Lollipop is only now beginning to populate.
Android Marshmallow offers some great features and tools I’m looking forward to using. Stay tuned to the Wamblog for updates and information as I learn more about this new OS.
