After a year, statistics have proved that the phone-bricking feature greatly reduces the number of iPhone thefts. It works! So why did the manufacturers and cellular providers fight this move for so long?

Apple added the bricking feature to the iPhone a year ago. Google has a similar feature in Android 5.0 “Lollipop.” It requires that you type your password before the phone can be factory reset or reactivated under a new account. This simple feature prevents someone from stealing your phone, wiping it, and reselling it. And the crime statistics prove that it works. Everyone wins but the Bad Guys. Yeah!
