Microsoft has been aggressively pushing its Surface tablet everywhere. They were highly visible on TV news anchor desks during Tuesday’s US elections. But if you looked closely, you’d see the tablets were merely propping up iPads, which is the mobile device the anchors were really using.
I remember back in the day, the cliché of reading a math textbook in class which was really a cover for a comic book. This scene played out in Back to the Future II, with the infamous Sports Trivia catalog wrapping a copy of the racy Oo-La-La magazine.
Is this what’s become of Microsoft’s Surface tablet?
A better question: Does Microsoft even understand marketing?
