Your Passwords, Please

Filed under: News — admin @ 10:27 am

Anyone who has access to an unsecured computer, phone, or tablet has instant access to all your online password — providing that they know where to look.

I view this risk as yet another reason you should be very careful with your electronics. Secure passwords on a phone or tablet? Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.

  1. Im surprised there isnt more information on the internet about securing cellphones and laptops to prevent access to passwords in case of being stolen. Ive heard some people have their browsers set up to never save passwords and clear cookies. I personally never use my email on my cellphone nor do I make any purchases on my cellphone as I am afraid of that information getting out. Im not sure how hard it is for a thief to break connect-the-dots pattern to gain access. I also have a laptop dedicated to taking with me places that has no email on it as I dont want to take my regular laptops out that are full of information. Do you have any tips about securing cellphones and laptops?

  2. For laptops, my tip is to use a secure password. That’s pretty much what I say in my Android phone/tablet books as well: Secure the device with a PIN or password and ensure that the browser does not save passwords or field data on web sites. Using extra software, such as Lookout, is also a good idea.
