Poor, Microsoft! They’re in a quandary over what to do about the millions of users who still cling to Office 2003 and Windows XP. They just won’t leave!
Apparently — and you could perhaps guess this — Windows 8 isn’t enticing the XP masses.

I think the reason is quite simply XP works (for most things) doesn’t crash (most of the time) and is the main thing if you are using a PC to browse the web and occasional office chores it works, you had it a while and there are better things to spend your money on at the moment. I’m supprised that Ballamer didn’t want there to be a limit in Windows to the number of times it would boot, or maybe an ‘off’ feature that could be activated by a remote web server in the last update…makes you think Linux isn’t so bad…

It’s good old fashioned free market: Microsoft hasn’t made anything to entice those users to upgrade. I believe that they are a force. Microsoft MUST deal with them or they will lose customers, perhaps the Linux (which would be awesome) but more likely to Apple.
If I was Balmer (and thank God I’m not), I’d make and sell a Windows XP refresh and update. Hell, that would add millions to Microsoft’s quarterly bottom line!
