Wambooli Win

Filed under: Main — admin @ 12:01 am

Last month, which was March, I quietly held the first Wambooli Win contest. It’s been the first contest I’ve had on this website since I used to give away a free book to subscribers of my Weekly Wambooli Salad newsletter.

The newsletter isn’t around anymore. At one time, it was very popular, having about 6,000 subscribers.

If you’d like to reminisce, you can order a printed copy of the newsletter archives; click this link to see the books listed on my Titles page.

Email newsletters aren’t as popular as they once were. Well, that, and I was tired of dealing with all the spam reports. There was one lady who blocked every AOL recipient of my newsletter. She forgot that she subscribed, so she marked my newsletter as “SPAM.” That action caused every AOL subscriber not to get the newsletter. I tried to reason with her, but she would have none of it. So I folded the newsletter out of frustration.

The new Wambooli Win contest is my way to draw attention to the website, get some reader feedback (which hasn’t worked so far), and to give stuff away.

As I’m writing this blog post (on Saturday, March 30), only two people have entered the contest. So the odds of winning are pretty good! But that probably won’t last long.

I’ll be promoting the contest on the front of the website soonly, and as word gets out that I’m giving away free stuff, more people are bound to enter.

Last month’s winner will be announced today, April 1. Then a new contest starts. Be sure to submit your email address. And, if you would be so kind, answer some quick questions about my books. That would be welcome.

Good luck!

  1. Last month’s winner was Commander Hurricane, who selected a copy of PCs For Dummies 12th Edition.

Thanks to everyone who entered the contest! Remember, you can enter again this month to try again.

  2. I noticed your blog entry was dated April 1st. So, I had to go check out the website to see if you were serious – I got fooled so many times this year my head’s still spinning. 🙂
I have your blog on RSS feed, so I never miss it. I have been missing reading some interesting articles at Wambooli. Is there a RSS feed for it too?

  3. I don’t do April Fools jokes. In fact, I’ve written why a few times on this blog. Especially in the tech world, doing April Fools can get people into trouble.

You’ll find RSS feeds under the Administuff category on the right side of this page. Pretty much all the articles are done on the blog now, so if you’re subscribed you won’t miss anything. Thanks for asking!
