Kim Dotcom is not a Bond Supervillian. Not Quite.

What this jerk was doing is illegal and cost the entertainment and creative industries millions of dollars in lost revenue. The article is fascinating in describing how this lard loaf lived high on the works of others. May he rot.

Well, until the next Dotcom Dork hosts another server and does the same thing. The problem is really demand: There are too many people in the world who expect to get everything free on the Internet. That attitude is squelching creativity. It provides a massive disincentive to anyone expecting to reap the rewards of doing something new and unique.

  1. I think that this is a perfect example of why we don’t need SOPA. In the US we have copyright laws, and if something I made is being used illegally I have a right to file a lawsuit for lost revenue and to have it removed. The idea of the government preemptively removing content is ridiculous because it completely bypasses the legal process, and I think that any form of government censorship in any medium (internet, books, internet) is wrong.

  2. And these people who think that they can avenge Megaupload by attacking government websites are idiots too. If they think that attacking government websites is going to make the government LESS inclined to censor the internet they are naive as hell. You make a difference by protesting and writing to your congressmen, not by attacking them, all that does is give them more ammunition to take you down with.
