It blows me away, but just under 50 percent of the Windows users on the Internet are still using Windows XP. Golly!

  1. That’s silly. It was almost a decade ago! It’s time to let go people!

  2. But they don’t. I know people who still use the same floppy disk, keep all their files on it. People don’t like to change their habits. And, honestly, some of those computers probably couldn’t handle Windows 7.

Makes you wonder if they’re still using Office 97.

  3. It’s large businesses that would have the biggest problem to switch I think, I’ve only just stopped using XP at work now using sever 2008 which is an improvement. XP still does the job that’s the main thing I think when they stop realising the updates that might be the clinch. I know my Dad has a netbook with XP on it works great but there now seems to be a few problems using Video chat programs like gmail chat between him and me using Windows 7 I can’t be sure if it’s the old OS but when he used another PC with windows 7 on no problems. It will drop more when people can no longer do what they do on a daily basis, like skype flash video etc, there is also the security issue with no updates it’s not going to be a great idea having that as an OS even with anti virus software.

  4. I know our local hospital still uses XP, as does the school district. Seriously: If it works, why upgrade? But you bring up valid points about the lack of new software support. Eventually people do have to upgrade.
