25 Years of Windows Upgrades

Filed under: News — admin @ 9:37 am

A great project: A virtual PC is setup and configured with MS-DOS 5.0. Then an early version of Windows is installed. From that point, every new version of Windows is installed as an upgrade. See what survives. See what works. Worth a 10 minute watch.

  1. Interesting I was going to ask how he managed to get Windows 7 on there then I realised he upgraded from Vista. I believe a fresh install is faster most times, I have never done and upgrade myself. That actually surprised me as so many people were disillusioned with Vista and a lot of people just did a fresh install to save time and conflicts.

  2. Also keep in mind that he installed only two programs, plus the software included with Windows. What would be more interesting would be an experiment that involved Office updates in addition to Windows, plus maybe other software. That would better mesh with real world setups.
