  1. I recently got a new 21.5 inch LED LG monitor it came with a DVI lead in the box, got it home didn’t work. after buying a cheap HDMI cable off Amazon I came to realise that there are many different types of DVI cable turns out they put the wrong one in the box! It had me confused for a while that did. I then bought another DVI D cable which was the correct on not a DVI I one. I’ll say one thing for VGA at least there is only one type of cable, (I could be wrong there). The HDMI quality is a hell of a lot better though.

  2. You’re correct: There is only one type of VGA cable. That’s why it’s so limiting. Video I/O is currently the most legacy of a PC’s connectors. Long-gone are the serial, parallel, keyboard, mouse, and A/D ports. With the MiniDisplay and HDMI will join USB, IEEE (Firewire), and Ethernet as the only ports you’ll see on a PC.

Oh yeah: I suppose the analog Mic/Speaker ports will probably be around way too long. I bet that standard never goes away.

To many audiophiles would hit the roof if they got rid of analog ports. Im pretty sure TRS ports will always be with us
