Facebook Finds Google in its Rearview Mirror

On a unique visitor basis, Facebook is the number 4 web site in the world, with Google still number 1. But as far as the amount of time spent on the Web, Facebook just passed Google. So I suppose it is all about Me, Me, Me!

  1. I predict Google will develop something to compete with Facebook. And it will be better. But it won’t be as popular because most of Facebook’s user base isn’t very tech savvy, so they won’t feel comfortable learning/using another application.

  2. Can you see Facebook becoming, in effect, the “AOL” of the early 21st Century? Like AOL, it will have people who are simple users who just don’t know any better. They’ll cling to Facebook long after something newer, better, and without any stigma comes along. Yeah, Facebook is the AOL of tomorrow.

  4. Possibly. There are just a crapload of other social networking sites. Google or Microsoft would be the only ones who could pull it off.
