Apparently there are worms (malware) designed specifically to be carried on and spread by USB thumb drives. Up to 25 percent of the drives could be infected.

Although Conficker was a bit over hyped, it infected the large majority of its victims through flash drives.

People who use technology and have no clue, or have no training, are asking for trouble.

I have stopped using USB sticks on public computers because of this reason. I have set my anti virus to scan removable media but most public terminals don’t have a decent anti virus program, so I after find loads of those on my USB stick I just stopped using, I now save any documents on line using drop box or just on email.
