Living the Unix Life in Windows

Recently, I’ve taken it upon myself to bone up on my Unix. I keep a Terminal window open on my Macintosh, and I’ve been plowing through the Propeller-Head books, discovering more about how Unix works, honing my shell scripting techniques, and discovering all sorts of wonderful and powerful things the World’s Best Computer Operating System can do.

Monitor Your Data Usage in ICS

One of the keen updates to the Android operating system ICS, or “Ice Cream Sandwich,” is the ability to monitor how much data you’re using — and which apps are using that data. Just as watching battery life is important, for folks with limited data plans, monitoring the phone’s data usage is vital.

Nexus 7 Sells Like Hell

Apparently the Nexus 7 tablet has some good sales figures, up to one million units a month. I don’t know whether that makes it the second-most popular tablet after the iPad or not. That’s because Samsung doesn’t release sales figures, so I don’t know where the Galaxy Tab sits. But one million units a month isn’t bad.
