When to Buy a New Mac or iPod

Can you control Apple? I’ll bet you can. Just buy an Apple product — a Mac or iPod — and within three weeks they’ll come out with a new one. It’s like controlling the stock market: buying stock and then seeing its price go down. But stock prices may come back up. With Apple, your old junk is just junk … unless you know where to look.

How Newspapers Can Adapt to the Internet

Print media is not dead. Printed material will always be with us, primarily for the reasons of permanence and portability. Newspaper publishers specifically need to understand what business they’re in now that the timeliness factor is owned by the Internet. Better still, they can exploit the power of the computer to deliver content and advertising in a powerful, profitable manner.

And the Newspapers will be the First to Go!

In the late 1990s I attended a convention where the keynote address was titled (in part) Roadkill on the Information Superhighway. Nearly 10 years later I can proudly declare one species as roadkill: the newspaper. But they weren’t killed. Instead, they ran out into traffic and got squished.

A hyphen is a minus sign is a dash, but that’s not entirely true. There are different types of dashes available for your writing pleasure. Before the media releases a panicked news flash, know which is which and how to use them in Microsoft Word.
