Cloning a Hard Drive

One of the tricks I mentioned in last Friday’s post was how to extend your PC’s life by adding a second, internal hard drive. You then clone the contents of the original hard drive to the second hard drive, and start using the second hard drive as the primary drive. That begs the question, “What is this “cloning” thing Dan speaks of?”

Making Mr. Computer Last

Things are looking pretty grim out there economically speaking. People aren’t spending money because people aren’t spending money. The Volume Label

Most people would think that a volume label would be found by a knob and it would have tick marks going from 0 up to 10 (or maybe even 11). In the realm of computers, however, a volume label is something completely different.

A Password to Remember

Do you recall the glory days? Back before the Internet, back when Windows lacked a password box at logon? Perhaps you don’t. Like the stone age, those days are gone for good; passwords are here to stay. Not only that, you probably need to use a password at least a dozen times during your computer day.

Windows 7 Beta Trials, Part III

Yes, I have have Windows 7 working on my test computer. It’s much more solid than Windows Vista was at this point in the process, and overall I’m pleased. I still don’t see the masses flocking to upgrade their PCs, though.

With the freshly-burned Windows 7 Beta DVD in my PC’s optical drive, I was ready to begin the ordeal, chore, task of installing Windows 7 onto my pristine and much beloved Windows Vista test computer.

Windows 7 La-Di-Da

No one knows whether the world economy will implode this year or not, whether those four horsemen of the apocalypse are readying their mounts, or if that big-ass asteroid will hit. What I can say with a modicum of certainty is that you’ll most likely see Windows 7 this fall. It probably won’t save the world.

Reply All: Go To Hell
