August 15, 2014Un-Assigning a Word Keyboard ShortcutIt’s easy to screw up, especially with a computer. Imagine your frustration at accidentally typing Ctrl+W — the DocClose, or close window, command — and not looking at the screen to see the Yes/No prompt. You could lose a document that way.

August 14, 2014Wi-Fi Electromagnetic Fields Gonna Git YaOh, here we go again: Another article about the prevalence of malevolent electromagnetic radiation, this time emanating from the gazillions of Wi-Fi networks that invisibly permeate the air around us. The list of maladies in the article (link below) are generic enough to please any hypochondriac. The truth? Who knows, but studies like this serve to brighten up an otherwise dull day in the mass media. Face it, something has to feed the appetite for multiple, 24-hour news channels that pump “breaking news” every 20 seconds. My thoughts? Thigh cancer from keeping cell phones in your pants pockets all the time. That’s not mentioned in the article.

August 12, 2014An Explanation for the S-L-O-W InternetMan! The Internet is slow today. I figured it was my hotel (I’m out-of-town, working). The hotel had a great Internet service until last night. I figured it was the hoard of teenagers who have since infested the hotel, each of them with a phone, tablet, and possibly Mom and Dad as well. But no! Turns out the Internet is sluggishly crawling because of yet another limit that has been met. It’s going to take some time to fix things, as well.
