Will Apple put ads into its OS X operating system?

Apply has applied for a patent to put advertising — obnoxious and in-your-face ads — into its operating systems. I’ve been using Apple stuff for over 20 years now. If they follow through with this, then I am instantly a former Apple user, swear-to-God.

A shorter, simpler password

True, it’s a pain to concoct a password that’s 14 characters long, a mixture of upper and lower case, non-consecutive digits, and weirdo symbols. Apparently it’s also not really necessary.

U.S. Getting Aggressive on Pirate Sites

Over 73,000 blogs were shut down recently, and 7 domain names seized, for distributing copyrighted material, mostly videos. What did I just write about the end of the free Internet? Then again, this was theft, and I’m all for the government pursuing and punishing thieves.

Apple knew of iPhone glitch, but Jobs persisted

Despite protests by Apple engineers, Steve Jobs liked the iPhone 4’s design so much that he pushed it through. Nice Jobs.

Apple is holding a press conference tomorrow (Friday) to discuss this issue. Hopefully they’ll hold it in a way as to not interfere with the signal.

Google has released an Android app toolkit, similar to the old HyperCard for the Mac, which allows anyone to quickly develop a mobile program. This is an insane step, one that Apple would never take.
