Recently my mother visited and brought with her lots of photos from the 1990s. Among the lot were a few pictures of my old office. Ah, memories!

\nAs a refresher, I’ve written about prior offices before. I don’t have a picture of my office I used back in the 1980s, the second bedroom in my apartment, but I do have others. You can read about my 2000 office here<\/a> and my current office here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The office from 2000 is shown in Figure 1.<\/p>\n

My mom took four additional shots, shown in Figures 2 through 5. They better show the office.<\/p>\n

In Figure 1 you see the custom-made bookshelves I had installed on my office wall. The south wall (shown) and west wall both angled up to a point. Each wall had bookshelves all the way up to the point, which was really cool. I don’t think I have any more photos of the bookshelves.<\/p>\n

In Figure 3, you see the wonderful stained glass artwork I had installed. The windows were customized for a gable, and I thought there were rather plain. So I commissioned a local stained glass artist to do something fancy — and he did! You can also see how the ceiling was painted with stars, moons, planets, and comets. It was really cool.<\/p>\n

Figure 4 is a head-on shot of me at my workstation, which had four sides, plus a wee slot in the back where I could walk through. I had quite a few computers buzzing around me. It was really a neat setup — and necessary back in the day when I had to write about multiple computers, operating systems, and whatnot.<\/p>\n

See the phone? Yep, we used landlines back then. Also, the two monitors behind me were LCD, which was pretty advanced at the time. According to the calendar, this picture was taken in November of 2000. (The resolution in the figure is too low to see.) And the snow outside the window in Figure 5 tells of the season.<\/p>\n

Figure 5 shows me at my then state-of-the-art Macintosh G4 computer. See all the booze on the shelf upper right? I collected those when I flew on airplanes. Pocketed a bunch! Still have ’em!<\/p>\n

The old Wambooli DrivewayCam would have been to the upper left in this picture.<\/p>\n
