IBM officially announced that support for the software will be winding down starting next month.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s been an incredible journey for the once-powerful spreadsheet program. It successfully took the reigns from VisiCalc, the first killer app, and dominated the IBM PC market back in the mid-1980s. Lots of people back then purchased a PC simply to run 1-2-3.<\/p>\n<p>The program&#8217;s death began in the early 1990s, when it became obvious that Microsoft was switching from DOS to Windows. 1-2-3 never made the transition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/goodbye-lotus-1-2-3-7000015385\/\" target=\"_blank\">Link<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The PC&#8217;s first killer app, Lotus 1-2-3, is beginning its long walk into the sunset.
