The workload probably isn’t helping.

Or it could mean that Jobs’ health isn’t improving. I mean, face it: He looked like a human skeleton at the last product announcement. His clothes were hanging off his frame. It was scary. I strive to be skinny but definitely don’t want to be that thin!

Given poor health, Jobs may want to leave now, promote his successor, and lessen the impact that a sudden death would have were he still the CEO.

Regardless, I think Apple is in good shape. Jobs is smart, so I’m sure he has plans for Apple’s future well-laid out. It’s entirely possible that there’s a road map for Apple’s technology innovations that stretches out for years.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised that the first product introduction after Jobs has passed on is introduced by Jobs himself in a prerecorded message. That would be something, and it would drive the fanboys wild. Look for it.

Google Swallows Motorola Update. Apparently I was correct: Google’s acquisition of Motorola wasn’t for the hardware, but rather for its 16,000 patents. The idea is that holding the patents thwarts a host of lawsuits Google was facing over the Android operating system. I hope that ploy works, and I hope Google spins off the Motorola hardware division so that it remains a software company.

In case you haven’t read it, Steve Jobs this week announced he was resigning his position as CEO of Apple.
