The physical edition was once a book called the Illustrated Computer Dictionary For Dummies.

You can read more about the Dictionary’s germination at this blog post (written in March of 2008).

Back in 2008 I was just learning the php language and MySQL database. I’ve studied those topics quite a bit since then. So during my downtime (on which I have two more weeks), I decided to give the original code and database a look-over.

Quite a few terms were suppressed because I couldn’t figure out how to get them to display. Well, I figured that out, so the new @ or Symbol category is now linked into the dictionary. (The terms were there before, just not visible.)

I also made the code more secure and optimized a few of the routines that were done rather clumsily thee-and-a-half years ago.

There are still plenty of new terms to add to the Dictionary, which I’ll be doing over the next several days.

Granted, the Wambooli Technology Dictionary isn’t the most complete and certainly not the most accurate computer dictionary on the Internet. But it’s mine, and it’s part of a dream my publisher and I had about 20 years ago. It’s nice that it’s still up and visited by at least two or three people over the years.

Having a bit longer break between projects than I’m used to, I’ve taken it upon myself to overhaul the Wambooli Dictionary.

[3

post-3085","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-main
["GET
