I think I’m beginning to figure out how a Tablet can become part of your life. Or have is that the Apple Kool-Aid?

\nThere is a Galaxy Tab within my arm’s reach. I bought it for my soon-to-be-released tome, Samsung Galaxy Tab For Dummies<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Tab is a nifty little gizmo. It’s small enough to put in my jacket pocket, not my pants pocket \u2014 and believe me, I tried. It lasts about two days on a charge.<\/p>\n

Originally, I had the Verizon data service. Never used it. So I dropped it. The Tab is Wi-Fi now, which fits into how I find myself using it.<\/p>\n

Seriously: This blog has pondered over the question of “Why the heck are there Tablets?” for a while now. So I thought I’d share how I’ve found the Tab to be a useful accessory to my digital life.<\/p>\n

The other day I was cooking in the kitchen, cooking being one of my non-digital hobbies. It was a recipe that required me to watch the stove for a while, so I was marooned in the kitchen and nothing about World War II was on the History Channel. To kill the time, I used the Galaxy Tab.<\/p>\n

Yes, I could have used my phone. It can brows the web and play games, but the Galaxy Tab has a much better screen. Games look good, so I played some Angry Birds and some Jet Stunts Car. Then I browsed the Web for a while. Then I checked Twitter.<\/p>\n

The other day I was stranded at the car place while my vehicle was being serviced. Yes, I could have used the Kindle app on my phone to read some stuff, but the Galaxy Tab had a much larger screen. It was like holding a book. I was pleased.<\/p>\n

It’s easy to argue that the Tablet doesn’t have a place. You have a phone, and if it’s a smart phone, you can do just about anything on it that you can do on a Tablet. And you have a laptop, which can do more than a phone or a Tablet.<\/p>\n

And, of course, you can have all three.<\/p>\n

The question is then, do you need all three? Or just two? Or one?<\/p>\n

All I know is that I find myself reaching for the Galaxy Tab often, especially when I just want to check something quick and don’t have the time to sit down at PC, or I don’t have access to the PC, and the phone is just too small.<\/p>\n
