You’re a fool if you’ve buying an iPhone on Verizon. That’s because the iPhone being sold is the iPhone 4. There will, doubtless be an iPhone 5 coming out in the late summer, on-schedule. Pity the poor Verizon customer who wants to boast about his new iPhone next month.<\/p>\n
Those new, fast, 4G phones? Yeah, the do offer speeds up to 10 times faster than the current 3G phones. That means real-time video chat, real-time downloading of movies, and all sorts of super-speedy Internety things.<\/p>\n
The faster phones also mean higher cell phone bills.<\/p>\n
You typically pay $30\/month for 3G Internet access on your cellular plan. Expect to pay $50\/month for 4G service, which is capped at certain amount of gigabytes. There will probably be a tiered service, with higher amounts for more gigabytes.<\/p>\n
I seriously doubt there will be any unlimited, 4G data plans. If there are, they won’t be cheap.<\/p>\n
No news on what’s up with net neutrality. The new congress seems busy fulfilling its promises to the voters who swept them into office last November. I don’t know if any movement is being made to squelch the government’s attempt to control the Internet.<\/p>\n
Locally, I know there are Internet sales tax issues being floated in the state legislature. I find such moves to be foolhardy: How is Idaho going to collect sales tax from some online store operating out of Wisconsin? If the guy in Wisconsin doesn’t pay, what action can Idaho take against him? Turn off his water? It’s ridiculous.<\/p>\n
I was wondering what type of camera to take on an upcoming vacation when it dawned on me: My old digital camera has a resolution of 6 megapixels. My cell phone has a resolution of 8 megapixels. Not only that, my cell phone can shoot video.<\/p>\n
