February 8, 2018My Own IllustratorI showed a picture my generic Android phone to a colleague. He remarked how nice it looked and asked where I got it. “I made it,” I replied. He was impressed. That got me thinking about how I do graphics and illustrations for my books. February 5, 2018I Bought the “Latest” Android TabletI thought I could live without an Android tablet. When my Pixel C died, I figured that I’d just wait until another Pixel came out or the next Galaxy Tab. I could wait no longer!

February 1, 2018Screencasting WarsIt’s been a few years since we cut the cable. Now I have several choices for my viewing pleasure. I have my computer, my tablet, and my phone. I have a Nexus Player box on the Big TV. I can also screencast from my Android devices as well as my PCs. Because our TVs have Chromecast dongles attached, I can cast to any screen that’s active — but so can any other user on the network.

January 18, 2018I’m Trying to Learn PythonI’m a C language fanatic. It’s my language of choice, primarily because I have books and online courses about teaching C, as well as the Unofficial C For Dummies companion website. It’s good to keep up my knowledge, but like many programmers, I yearn to know another tongue.

January 15, 20182018 Technology Buyer’s GuideThe decisions remain difficult, but the choices and options are thin these days. Still, new technology is necessary every so often. Here are my humble words of advice for those times you need to seek out a new or replacement gizmo in 2018. January 11, 2018Android POP3 Email CoordinationA POP3 email server is the kind used by most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) for email delivery. For sending mail, the SMTP protocol is used. This is why both server types must be configured on an Android mobile gizmo when you add in your ISP (or similar) email account. Still, email coordination involves only delivery, which is where POP3 presents various issues.
