Time For Some PC Upgrading, Part I

I was excited to play the new Ubisoft game, FarCry 5. I’ve been a FarCry fan for a while so the latest rendition was definitely in my sights. Yet, when I finally downloaded and ran the game, I noticed my 3-year-old PC lacked the toned hardware muscles to make the game really shine.

Back When You Could Easily Reformat the Hard Drive

Filed under: Main — admin @ 12:01 am

One of the reasons why DOS For Dummies sold so well is that the operating system excelled at making you feel stupid. Case in point: It was cinchy to reformat the PC’s hard drive and lots of people did it all the time.

Dropbox is Still the Best

Here Comes 5G Cellular Service

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

Coming soon, your phone will find a 5G signal. I don’t know the technical details enough to say whether your existing phone supports the service. To be safe, I’ll say, “No.” Anyway, by the time 5G rolls out, you’ll most likely have a new phone anyway. Hopefully it supports those fancy new 5G cell towers when they appear.

I’ve burned through about five dashcams so far. Through the cheap ones, the expensive ones, the fancy ones, and my current selection, I’ve experienced the ups and downs and would like to share them with you.

Setting the Ring Time

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

I remember having landline phones long before cell phones became popular. If you phoned someone, you could just let it ring and ring. Like when you knew Grandpa was out in the yard and it would take him a while to get in the house and answer. Yet, with today’s smartphones, if you don’t answer after a few rings, the call is sent to voicemail. Can that duration be changed?

Audio is an important part of the sensory experience, yet how often have you turned off an interesting video because the audio was terrible?

Android P Peeks Out

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 7:49 am

I’m going [to try] to avoid my ongoing rant about whether new OS upgrades are needed annually, and just dive into what happened this past week: Google released the first prototype (not even a beta) of the next version of Android, P. It doesn’t even have a dessert name yet.
