eReal Estate

Of all the frustrating things that confound a consumer the most, the two biggest headaches have to be buying a car and selling/buying real estate. Where the online economy has made inroads with traditional businesses such as vacation rentals, taxis, online stock trading, and banking, buying and car and toiling over real estate transactions remain mired in the past.

Android Tablets RIP

Reflecting on the past 10 years, I bought a lot of Android tablets: Galaxy Tabs, Nexus tablets, Pixels, even a few oddballs I forgot the names. And now, beyond Samsung and a few others, I would offer the sun is setting on the Android tablet.

NUC Me

Intel’s Next Unit of Computing, or NUC, is pretty darn cool. It’s something I thought about years ago, when I wrote that given you don’t always need a new mouse, monitor, or keyboard. A computer system upgrade involves pretty much the console. And the console on a NUC is pretty dern small.

The 5G Cellular Standard: Meh

The tech world is abuzz with the new 5G standard, which seems to be taking its time. As I recall, 4G was hot on the tail of 3G. The 5G standard must be something super special if it’s taken so long to implement, but is 5G really going to knock your socks off?

PorchCam 2018 Year-In-Review

This past year, my PorchCam snapped over 2,100 images. I review every one and pluck out those that have something notable in them. Because nothing exciting ever happens in my neighborhood, I really had to search to finally come up with 15 images that are marginally interesting.
