Facebook App Update December 2011 There's been a major update to the Facebook for Android app, which is referred to in your edition of the book. Main Screen The main screen on the Facebook app has changed its appearance. The new screen looks more like Facebook on the web:
The Side Panel
Whatever you choose from the side panel appears on the main screen. Notifications Atop the main screen are three icons: Friend Requests, Messages, Notifications. A red number bubble appears over one of icons to tell you when you have pending items. Status Update Update your status by touching the Status item at the top of the Newsfeed screen, shown above. Type in your status as shown here:
Note that there are buttons to let you (center above, left-to-right), tag friends, check in to a place, take and upload a photo, and set the message's privacy level. Photo Upload To send a picture to Facebook using the Facebook for Android app, touch the Photo item, near the top center of the main screen. You can choose Photo or Video to take a picture or record a movie using your phone, or you can choose an existing picture or video from the Gallery or other photo-management app installed on your phone. |
