I have a friend named Wally Wang

I can't help thinking of Wally. That's because he gave us these mugs from the Riviera Hotel and Casino. So I'm sitting here this morning drinking a nice, hot, cup of Joe and there is the Riviera Hotel and Casino on my desk:

Wally works at the Riviera as a comedian in the Riviera Comedy Club. (Sandy and I saw him there on July 4, 2001. He also snuck us into the nudie show, "Crazy Girls." Wally is such a hoot.) We're happy to know someone famous, especially someone who gives us mugs and other Riviera tchochkies. (And the Riviera is one of the more interesting and entertaining places on the strip.)

In a prior life I knew Wally from my stint editing a computer magazine in San Diego, and then we've worked together on a few books.

Yet, many mornings I sit here and sip nice, hot, Joe from a Riviera mug, so I think of Wally. (I'll most likely post other Wally Wang material here — including the infamous incident with the FBI — as time permits.)
