Opening Night
15 February 2002
It's late so I only have time to put in a few pictures more to come when I have the time....
We opened to a full house and they loved it! The show was very surprising, especially to people who were unfamiliar with The Mikado and Gilbert & Sullivan in general.

The final set
The set turned out lovely, thanks to the efforts of many people, including some very talented painters: Laurie, Jill and Chris. Above you see the set in the "preshow" lights, so it's kind of dim. I'll get a shot later of the set under the full stage lights. Contrast this with the model. Pretty good, eh?

Stage Right Detail
That's a "real" rock down left in the picture. The other stuff is all painted on a flat wall.

Stage Right Detail.
I believe that's Yara and Jordan sitting next to the Stage Right painting.

Ko-Ko, the Lord High Executioner
The author in full makeup, wig and costume. (Though that's my belt around my neck). The wig is an authentic Japanese Fan design; it's not a leftover wig from Babylon 5 (though I did work a Babylon 5 joke into the show). The picture doesn't do the makeup justice. And I'm not wearing my sword; the sword adds considerable length to my already rotund girth, which makes moving around the cramped backstage quarters rough. So I put on the sword when I'm on-stage and take it off before I leave the stage.
More to come!
