Fresh Pix From Tonight's RehearsalLots going on tonight! We're pretty much through Act I and will be working on Act II tomorrow (2/7/02). Here's what's going on: Costumes Are Here!
(Shot in a mirror) Above you see some of the costumes hanging in the women's dressing room. To the left are the principal's costumes. The chorus costumes are to the right. See the fan down in the bottom right? Cool!
Pam (L) and Judy (C) play Yum-Yum and Peep-Bo, respectively. Peep is in her costume. That's Shannon in the background. She's our Costume Designer. Shannon is working with Carol, who can't be seen. Here are some of the ladies wigs in the make-up room:
Check out some of the detail as seen in the mirror. The umbrellas for the Three Little Maids can be seen between the wigs. This really freaked me out:
Nope, not scalps. Wigs. There's not enough dummy heads to put the wigs on, so some of the ladies wigs are hung on the clothes rack. This is just weird. The Stage is Coming Along
Director Sandy confers with Musical Director Dan before rehearsal. Here is the set, still under construction. As Artistic Director, I'd be happier if it were further along, but it's okay for rehearsals. The moon gate is up and Ko-Ko's house is in place. Also the trees and our fake proscenium is up.
Director Sandy (standing), Vocal Director Donna (at the piano) and Dan (red ball cap) conducting our orchestra. A real, live rehearsal. This is Song 11, "With Aspect Stern." (I'd point out people, but it would get too busy.) It's the climax of Act I where Katisha (Karen, pink sweater behind Sandy) comes to confound the plot. Katisha is singing at Yum-Yum (Pam, violet shirt and overalls). Various choristers sit around appalled and in street clothes. They'll look very Japanese in just 10 days. (Well, actually by Saturday, when we learn to put on our makeup.) |
