I’ve replaced my webcam. The old one was nice, but designed primarily for indoor lighting. Because of that, the image washed out white outside. So I replaced it.
I still went with Logitech for my webcam. This time, however, I used the Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000, which has abilities to operate well in all light levels. It replaces the old QuickCam whatever-it-was-called.
The results as nice. Now the webcam captures a juicy, full-color image. It also features a wider field of vision and has other fancy features that I paid for but will never use. The YAWCAM software is used to drive the image, which is uploaded every 10 minutes every day.
I have software to add another webcam to show inside my office. I did this years ago with the DanCam. Problem: it would often catch me sleeping or picking my nose, or demonstrate to my publisher that I was not sitting at the computer working. So I turned it off. But in the future I may enable another web cam and toss the image up on the PorchCam home page just for fun. When I do, I’ll let you know on the blog.
