Verizon to Charge $2 for “Convenience Billing”

Filed under: News — admin @ 10:11 am

I’ll have to research this issue further: My cell phone bills are paid automatically online. If the Big V wants to charge me $2 for that service, then I can once again resort to having them send me the bill via snail mail. Given the size of my account, and the number of pages for each line, I don’t think that will save them any money. Still, it will be more convenient for me not having to pay $2/month for online billing.

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

  1. How much could it possibly cost to host an online account for a monster like Verizon? Pennies. Maybe. That charge is ridiculous.

  2. Verizon has to produce the bill. That’s a cost of doing business. It seems like it’s far cheaper to generate the bill as a PDF online and then have me pay online (or automatically). Where’s the overhead? Well, the overhead is in printing the bill, stuffing the envelope, and paying for the postage. THAT’s where the surcharge should be.

My last Verizon bill was 84 pages long. That’s going to cost them at least $2 to mail. If I pay it electronically at my bank, it costs me NOTHING.

    Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

  4. I have five lines and two teenagers on my account. Every text message they send — and they send thousands — appears as a line by itself on the full bill.
