Windows XP is Still Da King

Filed under: News — admin @ 8:26 am

Fully 66 percent of Windows users out there are still using Windows XP. That means a few things, primarily that their computers are ancient. Glad that I still keep Windows XP tidbits in all my books.

  1. This is just my opinion, but I bet its because of the economy. I work at my local computer repair shop, and we also sell new and used computers. 99.9999% percent of the used computers we sell are XP. And 90% of our customers who buy a computer only buy used computers, because they don’t want to spend all the money for a brand new one. I totally agree with the statistic because most of the computers we repair are XP too.

  2. Curious: I didn’t think that there was any market for used computers.

  3. I recently just bought a used PC to use as a test machine and to play old games on. It came installed with XP pro and after I bought a couple of sticks of RAM it is fine and I really can’t notice that much difference just doing every day tasks between XP and Windows 7. I think one of the reasons it is still so popular is it simply does the job, the office where I work most people are still using XP although some have started using Windows 7. You don’t need the aero effects and eye candy if you are just using it for normal office tasks. I do think it’s a bit wrong that they are stopping the updates in 2014 if it is still up to the job, it’s like IE 9 which also will be realised to not be compatible with XP, it just seems kind of petty really, although it not too much of a problem, as you could use Firefox.
