The Facebook Dislike Button Scam

Filed under: News — admin @ 8:33 am

I got a Facebook message for this scam last weekend. Being a hands-off Facebook user, I didn’t click on it. The article provides a great anatomy for the typical Facebook scam. Suckers.

  1. Even though I use facebook, it would be better for the world if it didn’t exist. The fact that its so popular, coupled with the fact that its SO easy to use that a 90 year old person could have just bought their first computer and could probably use Facebook.

I’ve always thought that ease of accessibility was a good thing…. to a point. The easier something is to get, the more people there are that use it. And every time a new person signs up for Facebook, the security liability that it wears like a target gets a little bigger.

I downloaded this dislike button add-on a while ago and it works quite nicely. Although people can only see it if they installed it too.

  2. I think someone should create AssBook, which would be the anti-Facebook. It would have enemies lists, things you don’t like, and so on. Whoever creates it will make a fortune.

  3. Lately, I’ve found myself using Facebook less and Twitter more, partly because I’m a tool and accepted some local idiots into my friends list (yes, I should delete them, but that takes time and effort :P) and because of all these spams and scams that are popping up all the time, which is sort of linked to the first one: idiots, who have a tendancy to just go click-click-click on everything they find and be damned the consequences.

Twitter only seems to have spamming users whom you can easily ignore as their tweets don’t show up on your timeline unless you follow them, which is pointless and silly.

  4. Yeah, it’s that spam on Twitter that annoys me. Turns out lots of my friends just want me to buy their crap.
