The Windows Slate v. the iPad

Filed under: News — admin @ 7:47 am

I admire the Slate’s speed, but it still seems to sport a clunky Windows interface. For some reason, that doesn’t seem to go with the touchscreen paradigm. Whatever.

  1. I like windows seven. Alot. But it doesn’t seem like a touch screen OS if you know what I mean. Touch screens main attraction is to be fun. And a tablet is only as fun as the OS that’s on it. Windows 7 is awesome but it doesn’t seem like the kind of OS that would make using a touch screen fun, if you know what I mean. Microsoft should make a Windows 7 spin-off with new API’s and an interface designed specifically for touch screens, that’s a winning formula that Microsoft should look into.

  2. The sad part is that Microsoft probably did develop a touchscreen OS. But because of corporate politics, the thing got squashed. The Microsoft corporate culture is anti-creativity. That’s one reason that Microsoft stuff sucks and that Microsoft seems big and clunky while Apple seems light and innovative.

Still, I see no need for me to own a tablet.

  3. Well, Microsoft employs 85,000+ people so I’m absolutely sure that at least a couple of them have had a great and innovative idea. But I’m just as sure that Microsoft, in an attempt to make sure they only do what they know will make them money instead of trying new stuff, smashed the new ideas into the dirt when the young, naive, and creative employees suggested them. Microsoft has creative workers, but they are so low on the corporate ladder that the moment they suggest something, the stupid people on the higher end of the ladder say ‘NO’.
