It was just earlier this month when I pondered in a post about the impending arrival of Windows 10.1. It finally appeared this past week, the first major update to the Windows operating system since Windows 10 debuted nearly two years ago.

ZOMG! Political Panic Over Your Data

Filed under: Main — admin @ 12:01 am

Recently, someone on the Internet wrote that Donald Trump could cure cancer and you’d still have people out protesting about it. The problem with our politically-charged environment is that people take their orders from the media or from political parties before they stop to think. As a case in point, the Trump administration repealed a recent rule made by the Obama administration regarding Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

The Downside of the SSD

Where is Windows 10.1?

Filed under: Main — admin @ 12:01 am

Time for some musings here at Wambooli central.

That is, until I can run my productivity software under Linux.

Avoid Data Limits and Spying Apps with GlassWire

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

GlassWire app icon

In my history of using cell phones, I had an overage only once. That was back in the bad old analog days, when I left my cell phone on during a trip to Washington DC. The bill for 600 roaming minutes was outrageous. That was just for talk, not data.

Hello, Koby!

Filed under: Main — admin @ 12:01 am

Things were different back then. For example, PCs came with floppy drives, no optical disks, and no built-in networking. Wi-Fi didn’t exist. USB? Forget it. If you wanted on the Internet, you purchased a dialup modem. And storage was measured in kilobytes and megabytes. It was a different world.

Wambooli PorchCam 2.4

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

It was just last year when I finally got off my butt and bought a new webcam to serve as the Wambooli PorchCam. I wrote the programs and set it live. Now, almost six months later, I’ve modified the PorchCam yet again.

Opt Out of Android Advertising

Filed under: Main — Tags: — admin @ 12:01 am

Unless you tell it otherwise, your Android mobile device tracks everything you do. This tracking builds an online profile designed to customize advertising. And, yes, you can turn it off — once you know how.
