Specifically, he states that you’re now using your second-to-last PC ever. I disagree: The PC is a business tool, not consumer electronics. Mobile devices like tablets and smartphones are consumer devices. For most people, mobile devices will take over their computer duties. But for professionals, and in an office environment, PCs will continue to dominate for decades.
July 3, 2012July 2, 2012Microsoft Drops Windows 8 Upgrade PricesLike anyone would care, the price to upgrade your existing Windows XP/Vista/7 computer to the travesty that is Windows 8 has been reduced. It’s a downloadable copy, for just under $40. As someone who has been forced to use Windows 8 (granted, a beta copy) for the past few weeks, and I tell you that I’d happily pay $40 not to use it. May 30, 2012Do Not LikeYou may already know this: A big chunk of the social networking world links you into a lot of spam — and worse. It’s a process called likejacking, where the Bad Guys fool you into clicking on something you normally wouldn’t click on — or may be fooled into clicking on something because it’s a “friend” who posted the link. May 28, 2012Someone Out There Loves MeThis is odd. The web site listed below is obviously a catch for my c-for-dummies.com web site. But it’s not mine! April 1, 2012Nostalgic Computer Print AdsIt’s embarrassing, but I remember seeing a few of these for the first time. A great price on 16K of RAM? A 300MB hard drive for under $20,000? Man, we’ve come a long way! January 22, 2012Kim Dotcom is not a Bond Supervillian. Not Quite. What this jerk was doing is illegal and cost the entertainment and creative industries millions of dollars in lost revenue. The article is fascinating in describing how this lard loaf lived high on the works of others. May he rot. Well, until the next Dotcom Dork hosts another server and does the same thing. The problem is really demand: There are too many people in the world who expect to get everything free on the Internet. That attitude is squelching creativity. It provides a massive disincentive to anyone expecting to reap the rewards of doing something new and unique. December 31, 2011Verizon Does a 180 on the $2That $2 fee Verizon was going to slap on your phone bill for the “convenience” of paying by credit card or using your phone? Well, it’s gone.

December 29, 2011Can Apple Keep Up?A good review and perspective from the Financial Times (below). I’m enthusiastic for the future Apple. The time to be worried is three years from now when the products are old and boring. Is it possible for Apple products to get old and boring? Time will tell.
