Just recently I bought a 512MB DIMM to upgrade one of my PCs. It didn’t fit. Though I thought I had checked all the stats, I bought the wrong thing. Not wanting to have wasted the $60 or so I spent on the DIMM, I desperately tried to use it somewhere, anywhere, in any PC I owned. It didn’t fit in any of those computers.

I got an interesting e-mail from Michael. He was getting feedback from his laptop every time he put his hands over the keyboard. The laptop’s microphone was echoing through the speakers and creating a rather annoying situation. That led me to discover the 7 steps it takes in Windows Vista to mute a microphone.

Perhaps you’ve gone to Windows Update recently or even visited the microsoft.com home page. You noticed something called Microsoft Sliverlight. Like me, you probably installed it. Then you probably noticed that your computer wouldn’t start, or something equally weird. So you did a System Restore. That leads to the question, what the heck is Microsoft Silverlight and do you really need it?

Microsoft has released a Service Package (SP) for Windows XP. It’s called SP3 because it’s the third and final service package for Windows XP. The thing was released this past week, and it’s not making users happy.
